The Full arch or All-on-4, All-on-6 or All-on-8 technique is a complete dental rehabilitation solution, specially designed for patients who are edentulous (toothless) or about to lose all their teeth. This method involves fitting a fixed dental prosthesis on 4, 6 or 8 dental implants, depending on the patient’s bone density, jaw structure or age. The result is a fast, stable and aesthetically pleasing restoration of the entire dentition.

Why choose the All-on-4/6/8 technique?

Unlike traditional removable prostheses, All-on-4/6/8 techniques offer a permanent solution, guaranteeing improved functionality and chewing comfort. They are ideal for patients with moderate bone loss, as in most cases they avoid the need for bone grafting.

The principle is simple: 4, 6 or 8 implants placed in a balanced way to support a complete prosthesis, offering a fixed, durable solution.

Who is the All-on-4/6/8 technique designed for?

This technique is ideal for patients who have lost or are about to lose all their teeth. It is equally suited to those who wish to replace uncomfortable removable prostheses, as well as those seeking a more stable and durable solution. In addition, patients suffering from moderate bone loss, who are unable to receive multiple conventional implants without grafting, will find this technique a rapid and less invasive alternative solution.

The advantages of the All-on-4/6/8 technique

Fast solution: In a single surgical operation, implants can be placed and a temporary prosthesis attached, enabling the patient to smile again immediately.

Complete rehabilitation: Whether 4, 6 or 8 implants are used, this technique enables the entire jawbone to be restored in a single operation, unlike individual implants, which require several healing stages.

No bone grafting in most cases: The design of the technique allows areas of low bone height to be bypassed by placing the implants at an angle, often avoiding bone augmentation.

Aesthetic and functional results: The implant-supported fixed prosthesis ensures efficient chewing, optimum comfort and a natural appearance of the teeth.

Longevity: Implants provide a solid, durable base for the prosthesis, reducing the frequent adjustments required by removable prostheses.

How does All-on-4/6/8 work?

  1. Initial consultation and planning: During the initial consultation with Dr. Arnaud, imaging studies (CT scan or X-ray) are performed to assess the quality and density of the jawbone. The oral surgeon discusses with the patient the most suitable solution (All-on-4, All-on-6 or All-on-8), depending on the clinical situation.

If you already have a removable prosthesis (denture), it is perfectly possible to modify it and connect it to the implants on the day of surgery. Otherwise, your implant-supported prosthesis will be fabricated entirely by your dentist.
  2. Surgical procedure: On the day of surgery, Dr. Arnaud places the implants in the jaw using specific angulation techniques to optimize stability, even in areas with less dense bone. A prosthesis is then immediately attached to the implants.
  3. Healing period: For several months (3 to 6), the implants will integrate with the jawbone, a process called “osseointegration”. During this period, the patient wears a temporary resin prosthesis.
  4. Fitting the final prosthesis: Once the implants have been properly integrated, a fixed, final dental prosthesis, custom-designed in ceramic to increase strength and improve cleaning, is fitted to the implants by the prosthetic dentist.

Follow-up and care after implant placement

A minimum of annual follow-up is essential to ensure the long-term success of the implants and prosthesis. Regular visits to the dentist who placed the prosthesis are necessary to check the condition of the gums around the implants and the overall condition of the prosthesis.

Good oral hygiene, including daily cleaning and regular check-ups, will prolong the life of the entire rehabilitation.

The All-on-4, All-on-6 and All-on-8 techniques represent a major advance in the rehabilitation of edentulous jaws. They offer patients a fast, reliable and durable solution, with a minimum of surgical intervention. Thanks to these implants, patients can regain a functional, aesthetic smile in record time, while in many cases avoiding more complex procedures such as bone grafting.

The prosthesis was adjusted on the day of surgery during its fixation onto the implants by removing the resin palate, which had previously prevented the patient from fully perceiving the taste of food.
